About the event
Join The Lunar Foundation for the rededication of the Larry Itliong and Al Rojas mural at Austin Beerworks - Sprinkle Valley, held during the FYP ATX Filipino Day Market in honor of Filipino American History Month.
Larry Itliong was a Filipino American labor leader who organized the 1965 Delano grape strike and helped launch the United Farm Workers movement. Al Rojas was a Central Texas Filipino American labor organizer and UFW co-founder. Their contributions to American labor history have been historically overlooked, and this mural keeps their legacy visible in Austin.
The ceremony will feature remarks from Johnny Itliong, Larry's son, and Desirée and Debra Rojas, Al's daughters, who are traveling from California to be with the Austin community for this occasion. Photo opportunities at the mural will follow the ceremony.
This rededication is part of The Lunar Foundation's AANHPI Visual Histories program, which extends the impact of Amplify Asian's AAPI Heroes Mural Campaign through public education and community engagement.
